How to choose the sealing method of coffee bag?

内容目录

Many people like freshly ground coffee, but the packaging of coffee beans is usually 200g and 1kg, and people cannot use all the coffee beans at one time. This requires us to reseal and store the coffee beans to ensure their freshness. During this time, resealing the coffee beans is very crucial.

coffee bag

Usually, coffee bags need to have a resealing method. Here we summarize the three common resealing methods.

1.       Sealing strips.

2.       Pocket zipper.

3.       Hook and loop zipper.

In this article, we will analyze their respective characteristics according to the three types of zippers, combined with the three commonly used coffee bag shapes. I hope can provide some help for coffee bean manufacturers when they choose a coffee bag resealing method.

1. Sealing strip

The seal is usually a wire-laminated strip of plastic or paper that can be bent at will so that it can act as a resealing device for the coffee bag. This sealing strip is glued to the top of the coffee bag by the factory during production. When consumers open the bag for use, after rolling up the coffee bag along the sealing strip, fold the sealing strips on both sides in half to complete the resealing of the coffee bag.

The sealing strip is the earliest method of resealing coffee bags. When the earliest coffee merchants thought of packaging coffee beans in flexible packaging, they chose the common packaging method of the organ bag. It was limited by the bag-shaped structure of the organ bag. The organ bag was a back-sealing bag, and the sealing strip became The only choice for bag type.

2. Pocket zipper

The pocket zipper is the most common way of sealing food packaging in our lives. Most of the food packaging on the market uses the stand-up pouch type, and the pocket zipper is the most commonly used resealable packaging method for this type of bag.

The pocket zipper has a small size, low price, and good sealing, so when a coffee maker chooses a stand-up pouch as its coffee bean packaging, the pocket zipper is its best choice.

3. Side zipper

When coffee merchants are increasingly pursuing the uniqueness of their brands and wanted to show their brand and culture on the coffee bag packaging, the eight-side sealing bag type came into being. Correspondingly, the appearance of the side zipper can not only be used to reseal the coffee bag but also as a part of the coffee bag to convey the values of the coffee brand to consumers.

The position of the side zipper is at the top of the front of the coffee bag, and there is a tear strip on the outside. When consumers use it for the first time, the zipper inside can be exposed by tearing the strips down. After use, the bag can be sealed like a pocket zipper.

We have introduced three sealing methods. Now, we will analyze how to choose the sealing method based on the analysis of three different bag types. Before the introduction, we counted the selection of the resealing method corresponding to the bag type among the about 200 coffee bags we have made:

First of all, let’s look at the organ bag. As we mentioned in the above introduction because the organ bag is essentially a back-sealed packaging bag, its two sides are folded directly, so there is no way to add zippers on both sides, so the organ bag type For coffee bags, only the sealing strip can be selected as its resealing method. In life, we can see many coffee makers who use this bag type, especially coffee bean producers with a long history. This sealing method is still widely used.

As the packaging method of coffee bags, stand-up pouches are increasingly chosen by coffee merchants. Usually, when the weight of coffee beans is relatively light as the common 250g packaging. You can choose stand-up pouch packaging. Compared with the other two bag types, it has the advantages of low price and a fast production cycle. In the selection of sealing method, the sealing strip is not a good choice. Due to the characteristics of the self-supporting pouch type itself, the width on both sides is short, the top is narrow and the bottom is wide, the sealing strip cannot achieve the best sealing effect. So a zipper seal is the best option. Considering the price/performance ratio, coffee merchants of this bag type usually choose a pocket zipper as its sealing method, and of course also choose a side zipper as the seal of the stand-up bag, which also has a good visual effect.

As a new type of coffee bean packaging, the eight-side seal is currently very popular among emerging coffee merchants. If this type of bag is placed on the supermarket shelf, it will be especially noticeable when placed with a group of traditional food packaging. At the same time, the unique design of the brand is printed on the packaging bag, which will make consumers’ eyes shine and stimulate their desire to buy. If it is matched with the upper side zipper sealing method at this time, it will have a complementary effect. Therefore, when our customers choose the eight-side sealing bag type, 80% of the customers will choose the sealing method of the side zipper, even though its price will be slightly more expensive than the other two sealing methods.

Eight-side seal

The above is our analysis based on our experience with coffee bags in the past. Of course, we have some other ideas to share with you when it comes to choosing a sealing method:
For example, the larger the opening of the coffee bag, the easier it is to get the coffee beans from the opening of these three sealing methods. The opening of the sealing strip is undoubtedly the largest, and its coffee beans are also the most convenient. The second is the pocket zipper, which is also taken from the top. Finally, there is the side zipper because it is set on the side of the coffee bag, and its width is 14mm, which is 7mm wider than the pocket zipper. This determines that its opening is the smallest.

Secondly, the sealing method of the sealing strip requires the coffee bag to be continuously rolled down and resealed. Therefore, during the use coffee bag will be continuously rolled up so that you will gradually lose sight of your brand pattern on the packaging bag. This problem does not exist in stand-up pouches and eight-side sealing pouches. We have found through customer feedback that it is sometimes taken into consideration when coffee makers make their choices.

Coffee beans have the characteristics of absorbing water, even if your coffee beans have a unique flavor. Once the coffee beans get wet, the beans will seriously affect the taste of the coffee. So no matter which sealing method you choose, you must first choose a bag manufacturer with good material and experience in coffee bag production. Only in this way can you ensure that your coffee beans are trusted and loved by consumers.
